Hyderabad Experiences Chilly Weather as Cold spell Hits Telangana
The intense cold gripping Telangana has resulted in a significant drop in temperatures across various districts, with several locations recording minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. According to the latest data, Kohir in Sangareddy district registered the lowest temperature at 6.0 degrees Celsius, marking one of the coldest days of the season.
In the districts of Sangareddy, Kumuram Bheem, Adilabad, and Rangareddy, temperatures ranged between 6.0 degrees Celsius and 8.5 degrees Celsius n multiple mandals. Areas like Sirpur (U) in Kumuram Bheem, Arli (T) in Adilabad, and Ginnedari in Kumuram Bheem reported temperatures just above 6 degrees Celsius. Sangareddy's Nyalkal mandal recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius, while Reddy Palle in Rangareddy experienced 6.8 degrees Celsius.
Several other mandals, including Dongli in Kamareddy and Chandana Vally in Rangareddy, witnessed temperatures hovering around 6.9 degrees Celsius. Bela in Adilabad and Almaipet in Sangareddy recorded 7.1 degrees Celsius and 7.3 degrees Celsius, respectively. In urban areas, temperatures were slightly higher but still below the seasonal average. Locations like Rajendranagar and Serilingampally recorded minimum temperatures of 9.1 degrees Celsius, while Uppal registered 9.5 degrees Celsius. Despite the marginally warmer conditions in Hyderabad's metropolitan regions, the cold spell's impact was evident.
Rural regions reported even colder conditions, with many areas experiencing temperatures between 7.5 degrees Celsius and 8.5 degrees Celsius. For instance, Malchelma in Sangareddy and Ramnagar (ARS) in Adilabad both reported 7.5 degrees Celsius. Additionally, locations such as Tiryani in Kumuram Bheem and Mogdampalle in Rangareddy recorded minimum temperatures of 8.3 degrees Celsius.
While no rainfall was recorded in most parts of the state, a few locations, such as Menoor in Kamareddy and Bhoraj in Adilabad, reported minimal precipitation, with rainfall measuring 0.5 mm and 10.0 mm, respectively. The dry and cold conditions are expected to persist, with no significant precipitation forecast in the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributes the drop in temperatures to cold winds from northern India, which have intensified the cold wave across Telangana.
